Think about it. Every successful Entrepreneur has a Geek within them. Entrepreneurs are a rare breed of people as well. They are also work alcoholics. They will work on getting their vision from a thought into reality. No is not an option for them and neither are the words, failure, or quitting.
They will work on their dreams even though their friends and family may think they are spinning their wheels. They see the end product before it ever happens – so clearly. This is what drives them to complete what they have started. They are focused.
The ‘Geek’ inside them is alive and well. In the beginning of their business they have to wear many hats. IT is one of them. Now, they may not be able to program a computer or know how to connect a VPN tunnel, but they do know what they need. They know that they need computer software that will automate their business as much as possible. Equipment that can multi-task so they don’t have too.
I was an Operations Manager. I have to tell you. I was so excited when I had an opportunity to update the current computer system, restructure the computer programs being used, and introduce the company to the latest and coolest technology available. It was a blast!
Entrepreneurs pull from their ‘inner Geek’ to analyze and structure their business.
Bill Gates made it on both lists: America's Most Successful Entrepreneurs – worth $63 billion and ‘Top Geek Guys’.
